What is Rotatle?

Rotatle is a daily series of three puzzles about rotating 3D shapes in your head. No words, no arithmetic.

Rotate each shape until it matches all three shadows.

How to play

1. Tap the colored arrows in front of each wall to turn the shape.
2. Compare your shape with the three shadows.
3. Submit when you think it matches. You get three tries for each shape, and fewer moves is better.
4. Each guess gets you three tiles, one for each direction: left, back and down. ✓ means the correct face is pointing that way, ¼ means you're a quarter turn off, and ½ means that face is flipped round to the opposite side.

The tiles score which face is pointing where, not whether that wall's shadow matches. A tile can be green while its shadow still looks wrong: the correct face is pointing that way, but the shape is still turned the wrong way around that axis.

Matching all three shadows isn't always enough. Occasionally two orientations cast identical shadows, and the tiles are what break the tie.
